OKRs are typically conducted on a quarterly basis to ensure effective strategy execution. At the end of each quarter, it is recommended for teams to engage in a Lookback and Learn session followed by an OKR Reset session. These sessions can be held together for a seamless transition and quick reset. During the Lookback and Learn session, teams reflect on what went well, identify any obstacles they faced, and share their key learnings. This allows teams to leverage their individual experiences while also considering structured top-down guidance. Following the Lookback and Learn session, teams proceed to the OKR Reset session.
In this session, teams reset their focus by establishing new OKRs for the upcoming quarter. These new OKRs may include rolling over objectives from the previous quarter, replacing existing ones, or adding new objectives to the set. By incorporating the Lookback and Learn session before the OKR Reset, teams can effectively evaluate their performance, address challenges, and align their objectives with the company’s overall business goals.
